20 June 2017, 2:37 pm

Images of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone have leaked online.

CharlieIntel.com received images of the game case, sourced from US shop Target, with a 27th June release date and a $39.99 price point (we don't know how much it'll cost in the UK).

According to the images, this standalone release is the base Modern Warfare Remastered game. It does not include the $14.99 Variety Map Pack that came out in March - but expect it to include the recently added supply drops for microtransactions.

How Call of Duty: WW2 handles swastikas and female soldiers
19 June 2017, 12:11 pm

By setting the next Call of Duty in World War 2, Activision charged the developers at Sledgehammer Games with coming up with a philosophy for dealing with Nazi iconography and the possibility of playing as non-German male soldiers when the game puts players on the Axis side in multiplayer.

Sledgehammer's approach was to treat the campaign very different than the multiplayer side of the game.

In an E3 interview with Eurogamer, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey told me swastikas will appear in Call of Duty: WW2's campaign, but won't be present in multiplayer.

The PS4 has sold three times what the Xbox One has in Europe, according to Sony global sales chief Jim Ryan.

"It's been pleasing that in North America, we've been two-to-one against Xbox," Ryan said in an interview with Time. "But in Europe, it's really been fortress PlayStation by at least three-to-one in unit sales."

The company also claimed that it's sold over 1m PSVR units since the platform launched in October.

Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed until spring 2018
22 May 2017, 9:34 pm

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed until spring 2018, Rockstar has announced.

Previously Rockstar had the Western sequel (or more likely prequel) slated for an autumn 2017 release, but that's no longer in the cards.

"This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans," the developer said of its highly anticipated adventure.

11 May 2017, 11:00 am

EA has put the Mass Effect series "on ice" following the Andromeda disappointment, according to Kotaku.

Developer BioWare Montreal is now a support studio, Kotaku said, helping out with the company's big new "live service" IP, codenamed Dylan.

This is not to say that the Mass Effect series is dead, Kotaku's Jason Schreier stressed. Rather, it's on hold for now, with no follow-up game being worked on currently.

More than 19 million people have played Battlefield 1
10 May 2017, 9:28 am

It sounds like EA's decision to take Battlefield to World War 1 worked out - the game's had over 19 million players.

That's not to say 19 million people currently play the game. It is to say 19 million people have played DICE's shooter since it came out up until the end of EA's 2017 financial year (April 2016 to March 2017).

Still, it's an impressive figure, and, crucially for EA, a significant step up from Battlefield 4 - 50 per cent up over Battlefield 4 in the same period from launch, in fact.

21 April 2017, 6:23 pm

The previous leaks suggesting a World War 2-themed Call of Duty game have been confirmed by Activision after the publisher teased a full reveal for Call of Duty: WW2 on Twitter.

Yes, it really is called Call of Duty: WW2. We don't know much about the game besides the era in which it's set, but details will be announced on Wednesday, 26th April, at 6pm UK time.
